I currently maintain a piece of machinery ca.1900 that uses just such a belt. To measure the width of the belt simply measure across the top of the belt or the groove it will rest in. Make sure that that your belt size is the last belt listed in the description.

Measure the distance between the two marks with a tape measure to determine the circumference of the needed v belt. Was your belt sitting at the top, maybe with the belt hanging slightly over the flanges of the pulley? Adjust to a slightly lesser length to ensure tightness when measuring an existing belt that has stretched. For type b, you subtract 3 inches.
